Employee Spotlight: Paul Woodcox

Ed Catmull, President of Pixar Animation and Disney Animation, is no stranger to problem solving. In his newest book “Creativity, Inc.” he describes how Pixar is able to produce such great movies. Problem solving is a huge part of that. He says, “The responsibility for finding and fixing problems should be assigned to every employee, from the most senior manager to the lowliest new hire.” Here at Eminence, we’ve got some great thinkers and problem solvers, not the least of which is Paul Woodcox.

Employee Spotlight: Lisa Willhite

Persistence is not letting inclement weather keep you from taking a hike through the mountains. Stubbornness is refusing to take an umbrella. There is a fine line between those two things; persistence and stubbornness. In fact, the line is so thin that it is hard for a person to self-declare that they are one or the other. We usually need others to tell us.

Lisa Willhite finds herself in a position here at Eminence where she often needs to be persistent. Stubbornness would certainly not do. But she often has to see things through and make sure that they are correct. She often has to be the communicator for various departments and people. When problems arise in production, they often call for Lisa.

Join us for Hope Jam 2014

Through the tireless efforts of our Relay for Life fundraising team, we are excited to be hosting our first ever Hope Jam concert on Saturday, May 24th at the Kentucky Renaissance Fair in Eminence, KY. All proceeds from this event will go to support Relay for Life.

Headlining this event is JD Shelburne. JD is a country artist that hails from Taylorsville, Kentucky but now calls Nashville his home. He has recently released 2 radio singles “Farmboy” and “Grandma & Garth” nationwide this past year followed by his debut music video for “Farmboy” featuring former University of Kentucky Head Football Coach Joker Phillips on bass guitar.

Employee Spotlight: Rodney Tingle

From the engineers behind the draftsman’s desk to the men and women stamping out cold, hard steel, Eminence is built upon hard work and dedication. This month’s Employee Spotlight shines on Rodney Tingle, someone who exemplifies both of these traits. Paul “Bear” Bryant used to say, “I’m no miracle man. I guarantee nothing but hard work.” Sometimes you need a miracle, but most of the time hard work will suffice. Rodney Tingle is a hard-working and dedicated employee, to say the least.

New Products for 2014

Eminence is proud to announce the following new Pro Audio and Musical Instrument Loudspeakers and HF products for 2014. See all of these new models at the 2014 Winter NAMM Show booth 4334 in Anaheim, CA, January 23-26.

Additions to the Professional Series include 10″, 12″ and 15″ shallow cast frame models designed to give you high output in tight fitting horn loaded applications. The new Delta Pro 12-450 is a lighter weight version of our popular Delta Pro 12 model, and is designed as a replacement in smaller portable PA cabinets. Like all of our professional audio and musical instrument loudspeakers, our new 1″ exit PSD:2013 and 1.4″ exit PSD:3014 compression drivers are designed and assembled in the USA and pack incredible performance and value.

There are five new guitar speaker models for 2014. We’ve captured the epitome of British tone with the 12″ CV-75 in our Redcoat series. We are also proud to introduce our first 6″ guitar speaker, as well as two additions to our Legend Series. We are also excited to introduce another addition to our Signature series, the GA-SC64. This vintage voiced speaker is a collaborative design effort with amp guru George Alessandro.

Employee Spotlight: Mayme Steinmetz

"That woman worked me to death!!" This was a phrase that I heard uttered by a young man who was working along one of the greatest workers that Eminence Speaker has ever seen. He was describing how hard he was working while trying to keep up with Mayme Steinmetz. She is, without a doubt, one of the hardest workers I have ever had the privilege to work with.

I have a unique perspective as I have worked alongside Mayme in the Packing Department and Box Line. When I was an Assistant Supervisor in the packing department, Mayme was always giving 100%. She is a great example to the younger generation of workers coming in as well as those of us that have been here for a few years.

Employee Spotlight: Jane Holbrook

“I was excited to get on here.” That is a phrase that many of our veteran workforce at Eminence Speaker have uttered. For much of the history of Eminence Speaker, this has been a tough place to gain employment because the turnover rate had been so low. Once you were in, you stayed in and did everything you could to maintain your employment.

Jane Holbrook is one of those people who are genuinely appreciative of what she has. She is a very dependable worker and her quality of work speaks for itself. She has been married for almost 30 years with 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

Employee Spotlight: April Suter

There is an old Jewish proverb that says, “I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders.” That idea is foreign to most of us. We typically want to lighten the load, do less, and keep ourselves from being tied down or committed to something for very long. But hardly ever does the person asking for lighter burdens accomplish much. If the truth be told, no one ever really goes looking for burdens; they usually find you. Similarly, in the workplace, we typically don’t go looking for extra things to add to our daily routines. But nevertheless, extra things find us.

From my own experience of working in production here, you will be hard pressed to find someone more able and willing to shoulder a tough workload than April Suter. April is extremely knowledgeable about everything with regards to our production departments. Her knowledge comes not from simply being told how to do something, but from hours of hard work doing the various jobs.

Employee Spotlight: Patty Thurmond

I have met and talked with many people in my years here at Eminence. There are very few that I have met that are as knowledgeable of their department as Patty Thurmond. Some people see a task at a “street level” view and some see a task from “30,000ft.” Patty can do both. And that is part of what makes her such a vital part of the Eminence Speaker workforce. Patty works in the Press Room at Eminence under the supervision of Garrett Gambrel. Garret recognizes Patty’s contributions to the company as such:

“Patty is an upbeat, hard worker with a great attitude. She is a huge asset for the department as well as the organization. She shows concern for quality and takes pride in a job well done. She knows how to motivate others and increase production. I never have to worry if she is working which makes my job easier. She is a great person, definitely an original.”

Employee Spotlight: Thomas Hill

This month’s “We are Eminence” employee highlight shines its light upon Thomas Hill. Thomas is one of the many pairs of hard working hands here at Eminence. He and his brother, Eric, take great pride in running our US Distribution department. Glenn Simpson is Thomas’ direct report here at Eminence. Glenn has this to say about Thomas:

“Thomas is a great guy. He’s here every day which is a big plus for me. He’s got a very positive attitude and work ethic which makes him very easy to work with and be around. He always keeps himself busy. Not someone you feel you need to keep an eye on. A real asset for the company and especially our department. Besides that, he’s a Louisville Cardinal fan. How can you not like that!!”
